Glen Keith 1991 30 Year Old XOP, Xtra Old Particular

Distilled July 1991, bottled September 2021. Official notes from Douglas Laing:

The nose reveals an elegant dried apricot style running to maple syrup, milk chocolate, and honey barley. The palate is thick and fulsome with home baking, vanilla cream, and a mocha depth. The finish lingers wonderfully . . . Anticipate a spiced oak character with pineapple and peaches in syrup. From Glen Keith Distillery by Douglas Laing.

Glen Keith Distillery

Glen Keith, a modern distillery, emerged in 1958 as the first new Speyside distillery since the whisky crash of 1898. Initially employing triple distillation with three stills, it later switched to double distillation in 1970, incorporating gas-fired and steam coil technologies. While contributing to blends like Chivas Regal and Passport, Glen Keith also served as an experimental hub for Chivas Brothers, pioneering their own yeast strains.

In the 1990s, the distillery released Glen Keith 1983, followed by a 10-year-old single malt and two peated malts named Glenisla and Craigduff. After a period of mothballing, extensive reconstruction took place from 2012 to 2013, and Glen Keith resumed production with a focus on exporting blended whiskies.
