Black Bull 50 Years Old, Sir Nick Faldo Collection
The family owned Scotch Whisky specialist, Duncan Taylor, was established as a broker and trading company in 1938.
More than 80 years after the company was first registered,
is recognized on the global stage as one of the most innovative and dynamic whisky companies. The company's devotion to the principles of providing exceptional casks for filling has been a key feature of its history and the outstanding portfolio of only the finest Scotch whiskies available.
This fine blend features malts from ghost distilleries and others from highly reputable distilleries, all of which are fifty years or older. The grains are some of the oldest and well known grain distilleries in Scotland.
Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, Black Bull 50 Year Old is indicative of the qualities these seasoned casks possess, along with the characteristics of the distillate.
Black Bull 50-year-old whiskey
Black Bull 50-year-old whisky is a truly rare and exceptional spirit. Only a minuscule percentage of whisky casks reach the impressive age of 50 years while still remaining drinkable. These whiskies are highly sought after, with some retailing for over £5,000 and becoming increasingly scarce to find for less than £1,000. The angels' share, the amount of whisky lost to evaporation during aging, is typically between 60-80% for 50-year-old casks.
As a gift, a 50-year-old whisky is unparalleled for momentous occasions like a 50th birthday, Father's Day, or Christmas. However, it's essential to choose a deserving recipient who will truly appreciate and savor this remarkably rare and exquisite whisky. The Black Bull 50 Year Old is an exclusive release, limited to just six hundred bottles. The casks for this exceptional blend were meticulously selected by Sir Nick Faldo and skillfully blended by Euan C. Shand, the Chairman of Black Bull Co.
Black Bull Blended Scotch Whiskey has a rich history, tracing back to its inception in 1864. The same blending formula has been utilized since the beginning, emphasizing quality Speyside and Highland malts and a higher malt content than standard blends. Originally produced by George Willsher & Company, Black Bull gained prominence after the repeal of prohibition in the United States during the 1930s. The brand was later acquired by Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Limited and has since garnered numerous accolades, including gold medals from esteemed competitions like the International Spirits Challenge and World Whisky Awards.
Black Bull takes pride in its non-chill filtration process, allowing the distinct character of each carefully selected whisky to shine through. The brand is known for its dedication to flavor and enjoyment, crafting unique blends that encompass 150 years of Black Bull blending values and philosophies. From the vibrant and untamed Kyloe to the bold 12-year-old and the refined 40-year-old, Black Bull offers a range of blends to suit diverse palates and personalities. So, embrace the spirit of Black Bull Whiskey, break free from convention, and savor the extraordinary flavors that life has to offer.
The Nick Faldo Collection
In 2022, golfing legend Sir Nick Faldo and scotch whisky company Duncan Taylor joined forces to introduce the Black Bull Nick Faldo Collection. This collaboration marked the launch of a series of limited-edition Black Bull whiskies, titled "The Tale of Two Legends," which aimed to commemorate both Faldo's illustrious career and the rich heritage of the whisky.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Faldo mentioned his deep love for scotch whisky and his enjoyment in working with Duncan Taylor, particularly with Euan Shand and his team, to craft this special collection. The whiskies in this range were carefully blended using some of the finest aged spirits from Duncan Taylor's portfolio, and each release would correspond to significant milestones in Faldo's professional golfing journey.
Throughout his remarkable career, Faldo achieved an impressive record of 41 professional victories, including 30 wins on the European Tour and six major championships, consisting of three Masters and three Open Championships. His six major wins rank among the 12th-most ever recorded. Following his golfing achievements, Faldo transitioned into a successful broadcasting career, providing commentary for CBS and the Golf Channel, while also making regular appearances on BBC's coverage of The Open Championship.
Simultaneously, Duncan Taylor proudly unveiled two of its rarest whiskies to date, both exceeding 50 years of maturation. This momentous collaboration with Sir Nick represented yet another cause for celebration for the whisky company. Chairman Euan Shand expressed his pride in working alongside Faldo and announced their plans to produce small batch whiskies that would honor iconic moments in the golfer's life. The anticipation for this exclusive collection was palpable, with the company eagerly looking forward to showcasing their offerings later in the year.
